Leader: I will lift up the cup of salvation, and call on the name of the Lord.

PRAYER OF ADORATION, ASSISTANCE & BLESSING
Trinity Hymnal #44: “How Great Thou Art”
O Lord my God
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds
Thy hands have made
I see the stars
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy pow'r thru'out
The universe displayed

Chorus:
Then sings my soul
My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art
Then sings my soul
My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

When through the woods
And forest glades I wander
And hear the birds
Sing sweetly in the trees
When I look down
From lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook
And feel the gentle breeze [Chorus]

And when I think
That God His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die
I scarce can take it in
That on the cross
My burden gladly bearing
He bled and died
To take away my sin [Chorus]

When Christ shall come
With shout of acclamation
And take me home
What joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow
In humble adoration
And there proclaim
My God how great Thou art [Chorus]

REFLECTION ON GOD’S LAW

Leader: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
People: This is the great and first commandment. (Matt. 22: 37-38)

Leader: God spoke all these words, saying, "I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before me."
People: For although there may be so-called "gods" in heaven or on earth…
yet for us there is one God. (1 Cor. 8:5-6)

Leader: You shall not make for yourself an idol.
People: What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God. (2 Cor. 6:16)

Leader: You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
People: Let your "yes" be yes and your "no" be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. (Jam. 5:12)

Leader:  Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
People: There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. (Heb. 4:9-10)

SILENT CONFESSION OF SIN
ASSURANCE OF PARDON: Psalm 51:1-2

Hymn. ”Across the Lands”
You're the Word of God the Father
From before the world began;
Ev'ry star and ev'ry planet
Has been fashioned by Your hand.
All creation holds together
By the power of Your voice.
Let the skies declare Your glory;
Let the land and seas rejoice.

Chorus:
You're the author of creation. You're the Lord of ev'ry man,
And Your cry of love rings out across the lands.

Yet You left the gaze of angels,
Came to seek and save the lost
And exchanged the joy of Heaven
For the anguish of a cross.
With a prayer You fed the hungry.
With a word You calmed the sea;
Yet how silently You suffered;
That the guilty may go free. [Chorus]

With a shout You rose victorious
Wresting victory from the grave;
And ascended into Heaven
Leading captives in Your way.
Now You stand before the Father,
Interceding for Your own;
From each tribe and tongue and nation
You are leading sinners home. [Chorus]

Prayer of the Church: Elder Bill Wood

Psalm 105:23-33  “Then Isr’el Came to Egypt’s Land” (Tune of Trinity Hymnal #468)

Then Isr’el came to Egypt’s land;
When Jacob journeyed west,
They settled in the land of Ham.
The LORD His people blessed.
He made them stronger than their foes,
Whose hearts He filled with hate
That made them hunt His people out,
His servants trick and bait.

He sent His servant Moses then,
And Aaron whom He chose.
In Ham they did His miracles;
His signs among their foes.
He sent deep darkness on the land,
His word was not defied.
He turned their waters into blood,
And caused their fish to die.

He caused their land to swarm with frogs,
Kings’ chambers filled with them.
He spoke, and swarms of flies and gnats
Throughout their country came.
He gave them hail instead of rain,
Their land with lightning flashed.
He struck their fig trees and their vines,
By Him their trees were slashed.

He spoke, and countless locusts came,
Their fruits and leaves devoured.
He killed each firstborn in their land,
The princes of their pow’r.
He brought His people out enriched
With silver and with gold;
And there was none among His tribes
Who stumbled, young or old.

GOD’S WORD READ: Acts 7:17-34
GOD’S WORD PREACHED: “Stephen’s Biblical Theology, Part 3: Moses” by Pastor Joel E. Wood

Prayer of Application & the Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Trinity Hymnal #257 “Stricken, Smitten, and Afflicted”
Stricken, smitten, and afflicted,
see him dying on the tree!
'Tis the Christ by man rejected;
yes, my soul, 'tis he, 'tis he!
'Tis the long-expected Prophet,
David's Son, yet David's Lord;
by his Son God now has spoken:
'tis the true and faithful Word.

Tell me, ye who hear him groaning,
was there ever grief like his?
Friends thro' fear his cause disowning,
foes insulting his distress;
many hands were raised to wound him,
none would interpose to save;
but the deepest stroke that pierced him
was the stroke that Justice gave.

Ye who think of sin but lightly
nor suppose the evil great
here may view its nature rightly,
here its guilt may estimate.
Mark the sacrifice appointed,
see who bears the awful load;
'tis the Word, the Lord's Anointed,
Son of Man and Son of God.

Here we have a firm foundation,
here the refuge of the lost;
Christ's the Rock of our salvation,
his the name of which we boast.
Lamb of God, for sinners wounded,
sacrifice to cancel guilt!
None shall ever be confounded
who on him their hope have built.

Trinity Hymnal p. 845 “Apostles’ Creed”

Minister: Christian, what do you believe?

All: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

WORDS OF INSTITUTION & WARNING

Minister: The Lord be with you;
People: And also with you.
Minister: Lift up your hearts;
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
Minister: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God;

Lord You are
More precious than silver
Lord You are
More costly than gold

More beautiful than diamonds
And nothing I desire
Compares with You
