GREETING &
CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge.
People: My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence. Leader: I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.
People: For who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God?
PRAYER OF ADORATION, ASSISTANCE, & BLESSING
Hymnal #660 “O God beyond All Praising”
O God beyond all praising, we worship you today
and sing the love amazing that songs cannot repay;
for we can only wonder at every gift you send,
at blessings without number and mercies without end:
we lift our hearts before you and wait upon your word,
we honor and adore you, our great and mighty Lord.
Then hear, O gracious Savior, accept the love we bring,
that we who know your favor may serve you as our King;
and whether our tomorrows be filled with good or ill,
we'll triumph through our sorrows and rise to bless you still:
to marvel at your beauty and glory in your ways,
and make a joyful duty our sacrifice of praise.
REFLECTION ON GOD’S LAW
Leader: Honor your father and your mother. People: Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Leader: You shall not murder.
People: Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
Leader: You shall not commit adultery. People: Everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Leader: You shall not steal.
People: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. Do your work quietly and earn your own living
Leader: You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
People: Having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor
Leader: You shall not covet anything that is your neighbor's.
People: For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: "You shall love your
neighbor as yourself."
SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION ASSURANCE OF GRACE
Psalm 51:1-8 “God, Be Merciful to Me”
God, be merciful to me;
On Your love I rest my plea.
By Your vast abounding grace, My transgressions all erase.
From the stain of every sin,
Wash, and make me clean within.
For my sins before me rise,
Always present to my eyes.
I have sinned ‘gainst You alone, In Your sight I’ve evil done;
So Your words are proven true, Righteous are Your judgments, too.
Truly, I was born in sin,
Sinful when conceived within. Surely You desire to find
Faithfulness in heart and mind; You will, deep within my heart, Wisdom unto me impart.
O with hyssop sprinkle me,
And from sin I clean will be;
Wash me from its stain, and so, I’ll be whiter than the snow.
Make me hear joy’s cheering voice, Let the bones You crushed rejoice.
PRAYER OF THE CHURCH Elder M. Ewing
Hymnal #672 “Trust and Obey”
When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his Word,
what a glory he sheds on our way! While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Not a shadow can rise,
not a cloud in the skies,
but his smile quickly drives it away; not a doubt or a fear,
not a sigh nor a tear,
can abide while we trust and obey. (Refrain)
Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief nor a loss, not a frown or a cross, but is blest if we trust and obey. [Refrain]
But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
and the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey. [Refrain]
Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we will walk by his side in the way; what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go,
never fear, only trust and obey. [Refrain] GOD’S WORD READ Acts 16:25-34
GOD’S WORD PREACHED “Unshackled” by Pastor Joel E. Wood
Prayer Of Application & The Lord’s Prayer All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
Song “My Heart Is Filled”
My heart is filled with thankfulness To Him who bore my pain
Who plumbed the depths of my disgrace And gave me life again
Who crushed my curse of sinfulness And clothed me with His light
And wrote His law of righteousness With pow'r upon my heart
My heart is filled with thankfulness To Him who walks beside
Who floods my weaknesses with strength And causes fears to fly
Whose every promise is enough
For every step I take
Sustaining me with arms of love
And crowning me with grace
My heart is filled with thankfulness To Him who reigns above
Whose wisdom is my perfect peace Whose every thought is love
For every day I have on earth
Is given by the King
So I will give my life my all
To love and follow Him
Hymnal p. 845 “Apostles’ Creed”
Minister: Christian, what do you believe?
All: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
WORDS OF INSTITUTION & WARNING
