Choral Introit.   “Come to the Water”

O let all who thirst let them come to the water.

And let all who have nothing, let them come to the Lord:

Without money, without price.

Why should you pay the price, except for the Lord, the Lord?

And let all who seek, let them come to the water.

And let all who have nothing, let them come to the Lord:

Without money, without strife.

Why should you spend your life, except for the Lord, the Lord?

And let all who toil, let them come to the water.

And let all who are weary, let them come to the Lord:

All who labor, who labor without rest.

How can your soul find rest, except for the Lord, except the Lord, the Lord?

And let all the poor, let them come to the water.

Bring the ones who are laden, bring them all to the Lord:

Bring the children without might.

Easy the load and light: come to the Lord, the Lord.

Come to the water; come to the water; come to the Lord.

GREETING & CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Be exalted, O God, above the heavens!

People: Let your glory be over all the earth!

Leader: That your beloved ones may be delivered.

All: Give salvation by your right hand and answer me!

PRAYER OF ADORATION, ASSISTANCE, & BLESSING

Hymnal #580   “Lead On, O King Eternal”

Lead on, O King eternal,

the day of march has come;

henceforth in fields of conquest

thy tents shall be our home:

through days of preparation

thy grace has made us strong,

and now, O King eternal,

we lift our battle song.

Lead on, O King eternal,

till sin's fierce war shall cease,

and holiness shall whisper

the sweet amen of peace;

for not with swords loud clashing,

nor roll of stirring drums,

but deeds of love and mercy,

the heav'nly kingdom comes.

Lead on, O King eternal,

we follow, not with fears;

for gladness breaks like morning

where'er thy face appears;

thy cross is lifted o'er us;

we journey in its light:

the crown awaits the conquest;

lead on, O God of might.

REFLECTION ON GOD’S LAW

Leader: The Sixth Commandment is:

People: You shalt not murder.

Leader: Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?

People: Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not repay man according to his work?

ASSURANCE OF GRACE

Hymnal 585   “Take My Life, and Let It Be”

Take my life, and let it be

consecrated, Lord, to thee.

Take my moments and my days;

let them flow in ceaseless praise,

let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my hands, and let them move

at the impulse of thy love.

Take my feet, and let them be

swift and beautiful for thee,

swift and beautiful for thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing,

always, only, for my King.

Take my lips, and let them be

filled with messages from thee,

filled with messages from thee.

Take my silver and my gold;

not a mite would I withhold.

Take my intellect, and use

ev'ry pow'r as thou shalt choose,

ev'ry pow'r as thou shalt choose.

Take my will, and make it thine;

it shall be no longer mine.

Take my heart, it is thine own;

it shall be thy royal throne,

it shall be thy royal throne.

Take my love; my Lord, I pour

at thy feet its treasure-store.

Take my self, and I will be

ever, only, all for thee,

ever, only, all for thee.

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH.  Elder Dean Abbott

Psalm 105:23-37.  “Then Isr’el Came to Egypt's Land”

Then Isr’el came to Egypt’s land;

When Jacob journeyed west,

They settled in the land of Ham.

The LORD His people blessed.

He made them stronger than their foes,

Whose hearts He filled with hate

That made them hunt His people out,

His servants trick and bait.

He sent His servant Moses then,

And Aaron whom He chose.

In Ham they did His miracles;

His signs among their foes.

He sent deep darkness on the land,

His word was not defied.

He turned their waters into blood,

And caused their fish to die.

He caused their land to swarm with frogs,

Kings’ chambers filled with them.

He spoke, and swarms of flies and gnats

Throughout their country came.

He gave them hail instead of rain,

Their land with lightning flashed.

He struck their fig trees and their vines,

By Him their trees were slashed.

He spoke, and countless locusts came,

Their fruits and leaves devoured.

He killed each firstborn in their land,

The princes of their pow’r.

He brought His people out enriched

With silver and with gold;

And there was none among His tribes

Who stumbled, young or old.

GOD’S WORD READ   Acts 21:1-15

GOD’S WORD PREACHED.   “Mixed Messages” by Pastor Joel E. Wood

Prayer Of Application & The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.

Song   "Supper with Jesus”

Chorus:

Supper with Jesus is offered

As a sign and seal of His grace.

Bread and wine are given to show

His covenant is in place.

We recall the sorrow

As God's own Son was killed.

We recall with thankful hearts

The mercy God has willed. [Chorus]

Those who were most guilty

Are those who are released.

Those whose hearts were most in pain

Discover perfect peace. [Chorus]

Hymnal p. 845   “Apostles’ Creed”

Minister: Christian, what do you believe?

All:  I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

SACRAMENT OF THE LORD’S SUPPER

Words of Institution & Warning

Minister: Lift up your hearts;

People: We lift them up to the Lord.

Minister: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God;

People: It is right to give him thanks and praise.

COMMUNION PRAYER

Approach the Table for the Lord’s Supper

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Song  “Come Unto Jesus"

Come unto Jesus all you who are weary.

Come to the mercy seat, fervently kneel.

Here, bring your wounded hearts, broken and needy.

Come unto Jesus, mighty to heal.

Joy of the comfortless, Light for the straying,

Hope of the penitent, Peace in our strife.

Here speaks the Comforter, tenderly saying

“My yoke is easy my burden is light.”

Chorus:

Come unto Jesus.

Come unto Jesus.

Lay down your burdens, He is enough.

Come unto Jesus, rest in His love.

Come, taste the Bread of Life, broken for sinners.

Drink from the cup of His promise made sure.

Feast at His table as sons and as daughters.

Grace overflowing is yours evermore.

Come unto Jesus.

Come unto Jesus.

Lay down your burdens, He is enough.

Come unto Jesus, rest in His love.

Come, now and follow Him, this life forsaking.

All that was gain, count as nothing but loss.

Trade all this world for His kingdom unfading.

Come unto Jesus, take up your cross.

Come unto Jesus, take up your cross.

Life everlasting He offers to us.

Come unto Jesus.

Come unto Jesus.

Lay down your burdens, He is enough.

Come unto Jesus,

Come unto Jesus.

Lay down your burdens, He is enough.

Come unto Jesus, rest in His love.

Come unto Jesus, rest in His love.

Hymnal #731:   “Doxology”

Praise God from whom all blessings flow;

Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye heav'nly host:

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
