In Colossians 1:28-29, Paul describes the work that he and his team did while on mission: “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.” We’ve seen this very thing throughout Acts: how much effort the Apostles put into spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. They didn’t fear getting in the way of God’s decrees, as they knew they were the messengers of that Good News about Jesus! We want to remember that as we labor for Him. It’s His plans in which we labor, it’s His glory for which we labor, and it’s strength through which we labor!

Make sure to read the attached New Life News. There is much to pray for and labor in. But here are some items that were too new to make it in the New Life News:

NO SOUP THIS SUNDAY PM

Due to VBS setup and prep, our Soup night is cancelled this week. However, plan on enjoying some warm fellowship NEXT Sunday night at the Ferrebees! And don’t for get about Summer Nights at Crown Point on July 30 and August 16.

VBS Prayer Gathering Sunday Night @ 4p

It is time! The building is nearly all decorated for VBS, 128 kids are registered, the teachers & helpers have prepped their lessons and spaces. Now, we can pray! Bill Wood will lead a VBS Prayer Gathering in Rm 202 at 4p THIS SUNDAY evening. Come lift up the concerns and requests for this 5-day event to introduce children to Jesus.

Fall Ministry Schedule Commencing Soon

Cadets & GEMS: Remember that Cadets & GEMS scouting ministries will be rebooting at New Life with the leadership of folks from across NAPARC congregations. The Goal is to grow those ministries to branch out into other parts of the San Diego County.

Newth Group: Our midweek 6th-12th Grade gathering will also restart. These evenings are filled with quality teaching of the youth, then breaking up into groups for prayer. Sometimes the prayer groups last around an hour. These kids are learning to pray for one another and the needs in their communities. I’m thankful that Morgan & Sophia Loughlean are joining the youth ministry team, which is already filled with wonderful young adults who care well for our youth and their families!

L.I.F.T. Groups: Living in Fellowship Together has been an encouragement to so many. I appreciate those of you who have stopped me on Sundays or sent an email or text to let me know what these groups mean to you. We will soon be updating the list of available L.I.F.T. Groups. I strongly encourage you to find one and join. It will build you up in the faith and encourage you in your faithfulness to the Lord in worship and work.

HigherED: We want to fulfill the initial desire in HigherED which is to have more, smaller classes which facilitate better discussions around a Bible book, theology, a Christian Life topic or issue, etc. Pray about leading a HigherED class for a quarter or two this year. There are great blessings to be had!

I’m so thankful for all of you and your place in Christ’s Kingdom. Whether you’re helping with a public ministry of New Life or giving all you have at work each day, caring for your children at home or helping tend to an elderly friend or family member, God is using you in so many ways to bless others and build His Church! Work hare, laboring with all HIS energy He powerfully works in you!

Love & blessings,

Pastor Joel
