Ephesians 1:1-4

Morgan begins his series on Ephesians by preaching from the introduction to Paul’s epistle. He shows us that, in Christ, we have a new identity: we are saints, born again, and chosen by God. Since we are saints, we should view one another accordingly as we interact with our brothers and sisters in Christ. This truth should also fill us with peace as we live in the world, in contrast to the restlessness that characterizes those who belong to the world. For Paul, reflecting on this leads him to erupt in doxology to God, the source and object of all blessing. The blessing we receive from God is not the result of our own doing; it did not begin at the moment of our belief or at our baptism, but before the foundation of the world.
