Welcome and Announcements

Choral Introit   “Come, Ye Disconsolate”
Come, ye disconsolate, where’er ye languish.
Come to the mercy seat, fervently kneel.
Here bring your wounded hearts, here tell your anguish;
Earth has no sorrow that heav’n cannot heal.

Joy of the desolate, light of the straying,
Hope when all others die, fadeless and pure!
Here speaks the Comforter, tenderly saying,
“Earth has no sorrow that heav’n cannot cure.”

Here see the bread of life, see waters flowing
Forth from the throne of God, pure from above.
Come to the feast of love; come, ever knowing
Earth has no sorrow, earth has no sorrow;
Earth has no sorrow but heav’n can remove.

Text: Thomas Moore, 1779-1852; alt. Thomas Hastings, 1784-1872
Tune: CONSOLATOR, Samuel Webbe Sr. 1740-1816
Arr.: Terre Johnson; adapt. Christopher Aspaas (ASCAP)

GREETING AND CALL TO WORSHIP   Psalm 113:1–3
Leader: Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord!
People: Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and forevermore!

Leader:  From the rising of the sun to its setting,
All: The name of the Lord is to be praised!

PRAYER OF ADORATION, ASSISTANCE, AND BLESSING

Hymnal #94   “How Firm a Foundation”
How firm a foundation, you saints of the Lord,
is laid for your faith in his excellent Word!
What more can he say than to you he has said,
to you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?

"Fear not, I am with you, O be not dismayed;
for I am your God, and will still give you aid;
I'll strengthen you, help you, and cause you to stand,
upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand.

"When through the deep waters I call you to go,
the rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;
for I will be with you, your troubles to bless,
and sanctify to you your deepest distress.

"When through fiery trials your pathway shall lie,
my grace, all-sufficient, shall be your supply;
the flame shall not hurt you; I only design
your dross to consume and your gold to refine.

"E'en down to old age all my people shall prove
my sovereign, eternal, unchangeable love;
and when hoary hairs shall their temples adorn,
like lambs they shall still in my bosom be borne."

The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose,
I will not, I will not desert to his foes;
that soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I'll never, no never, no never forsake."

REFLECTION ON GOD’S LAW
Leader: The Ninth Commandment is: “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” (Exodus 20:16)
People: These are the things that you shall do: Speak the truth to one another; render in your gates judgments that are true and make for peace. (Zechariah 8:16)

Leader: Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices
People: And have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.” (Colossians 3:9–10)

SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION
ASSURANCE OF GRACE   Acts 4:12

Song.   “Just As I Am”
Just as I am without one plea
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot.
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Chorus:
I come broken to be mended.
I come wounded to be healed.
I come desp’rate to be rescued.
I come empty to be filled.
I come guilty to be pardoned
By the blood of Christ, the Lamb.
And I'm welcomed with open arms,
Praise God, Just as I am.

Just as I am I would be lost,
But mercy and grace my freedom bought.
And now to glory in Your cross,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Chorus:
I come broken to be mended.
I come wounded to be healed.
I come desp’rate to be rescued.
I come empty to be filled.
I come guilty to be pardoned
By the blood of Christ, the Lamb.
And I'm welcomed with open arms,
Praise God, Just as I am.
Just as I am

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH.   Elder Vince Ortiz

Psalm 28:1-5  “I Cry to You, O Lord”
I cry to You, O LORD, my Rock
To me do not be deaf;
If You are silent I’ll descend
Into the pit of death.

O hear my supplicating voice
When unto You I cry,
When to Your holy dwelling place
I lift my hands up high.

O drag me not away with those
Who work iniquity,
Who to their neighbors speak of peace
While plotting treachery.

Repay them justly for their deeds,
The evil of their way;
And for the things their hands have done
A due reward repay.

Since they do not regard the works
And actions of His hand,
The LORD will surely tear them down,
He will not let them stand.

GOD’S WORD READ   John 10:1-6,11-18
GOD’S WORD PREACHED.   “The Good Shepherd” by Pastoral Intern Morgan Loughlean

Prayer of Application and the Lord’s Prayer
All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.

Hymnal #252  "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross”
When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
save in the death of Christ my God:
all the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to his blood.

See, from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down:
did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were a present far too small;
love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all.

Hymnal p. 845   “Apostles’ Creed”
Minister: Christian, what do you believe?
All:  I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Song   “I Will Glory in My Redeemer"
I will glory in my Redeemer
Whose priceless blood has ransomed me.
Mine was the sin that drove the bitter nails,
And hung Him on that judgment tree.
I will glory in my Redeemer
Who crushed the pow’r of sin and death;
My only Savior before the holy Judge;
The Lamb, Who is my righteousness,
The Lamb, Who is my righteousness.

I will glory in my Redeemer;
My life He bought, my love He owns.
I have no longings for another;
I'm satisfied in Him alone.
I will glory in my Redeemer,
His faithfulness my standing place;
Though foes are mighty and rush up on me,
My feet are firm, held by His grace,
My feet are firm, held by His grace.

I will glory in my Redeemer
Who carries me on eagle's wings.
He crowns my life with loving kindness;
His triumph song I'll ever sing.
I will glory in my Redeemer
Who waits for me at gates of gold;
And when He calls me it will be paradise;
His face forever to behold,
His face forever to behold.
