Children’s Chorus   “The King of Glory Comes”

Refrain:

The King of glory comes, the nation rejoices.

Open the gates before him, lift up your voices.

Who is the King of glory?  What shall we call him?

He is Immanuel, the promised of ages. [Refrain]

In all of Galilee, in city or village,

He goes among his people curing their illness. [Refrain]

He gave his life for us, the pledge of salvation;

He took upon himself the sin of the nations. [Refrain]

He conquered sin and death; he truly has risen.

And he will share with us his heavenly kingdom. [Refrain]

GREETING & CALL TO WORSHIP   Psalm 113:4-9

Leader: The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens!

People: : Who is like the Lord our God, who is seated on high, who looks far down on the heavens and the earth?

Leader: He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap,

People: To make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people.

Leader: He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children.

All: Praise the Lord!

PRAYER OF ADORATION, ASSISTANCE, & BLESSING

Hymnal #235   “All Glory, Laud, and Honor”

All glory, laud, and honor
to thee, Redeemer, King,
to whom the lips of children
made sweet hosannas ring!
Thou art the King of Israel,
thou David's royal Son,
who in the Lord's name comest,
the King and blessed One!

The people of the Hebrews
with palms before thee went;
our praise and prayer and anthems
before thee we present:
to thee, before thy passion,
they sang their hymns of praise;
to thee, now high exalted,
our melody we raise.

Thou didst accept their praises;
accept the prayers we bring,
who in all good delightest,
thou good and gracious King!
All glory, laud, and honor
to thee, Redeemer, King,
to whom the lips of children
made sweet hosannas ring!

REFLECTION ON GOD’S LAW

Leader: The Tenth Commandment is:

People: You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.

Leader: Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have,

People: For he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH   Elder Brad Tidwell

Psalm 118: 19-29   “Now Open Wide the Gate”

Now open wide the gates for me,

The gates of righteousness,

And I will enter in through them;

With thanks the LORD I’ll bless.

This is the gate that is the LORD’s,

The righteous enter in.

I’m thankful You have answered me;

My Savior You have been.

That stone is now the cornerstone

That builders once despised.

This is the doing of the LORD,

And wondrous in our eyes.

This is the day the LORD has made;

Let us be glad and sing.

Hosanna, LORD! O give success!

O LORD, salvation bring!

O blessed is the one who comes,

Comes in the LORD’s great name.

A blessing from the LORD’s own house

Upon you we proclaim.

The LORD is God and He to us

Has made the light arise.

With cords bind to the altar’s horns

The festal sacrifice.

You are my God, I’ll give You thanks;

My God, I’ll give you praise.

O thank the LORD, for He is good;

His love lasts endless days.

GOD’S WORD READ   Psalm 118:25-29

GOD’S WORD PREACHED.   “He Is Blessed!” by Pastor Joel E. Wood

Prayer Of Application & The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.

Hymnal #182   "My Song Is Love Unknown”

My song is love unknown,
my Savior’s love to me,
love to the loveless shown,
that they might lovely be.
O who am I,
that for my sake
my Lord should take
frail flesh and die?

He came from his blest throne,
salvation to bestow;
but men cared not, and none
the longed-for Christ would know.
But oh, my Friend,
my Friend indeed,
who at my need
his life did spend!

Sometimes they strew his way,
and his sweet praises sing;
resounding all the day
hosannas to their King.
Then “Crucify!”
is all their breath,
and for his death
they thirst and cry.

Why, what hath my Lord done?
What makes this rage and spite?
He made the lame to run,
he gave the blind their sight.
Sweet injuries!
Yet all his deeds
their hatred feeds;
they 'gainst him rise.

They rise, and needs will have
my dear Lord made away;
a murderer they save,
the Prince of Life they slay.
Yet willing he
to suff'ring goes,
that he his foes
from thence might free.

In life, no house, no home
my Lord on earth might have;
in death, no friendly tomb
but what a stranger gave.
What may I say?
Heav'n was his home,
but mine the tomb
wherein he lay.

Here might I stay and sing,
no story so divine;
never was love, dear King,
never was grief like thine.
This is my Friend,
in whose sweet praise
I all my days
could gladly spend.

Hymnal p. 845   “Apostles’ Creed”

Minister: Christian, what do you believe?

All:  I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Song   “In Christ Alone”

In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease.
My Comforter, my All in All,
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied.
For ev’ry sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then, bursting forth in glorious Day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine,
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the pow’r of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow’r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the pow’r of Christ I'll stand!

Trinity Hymnal #731  “Doxology”

Praise God from whom all blessings flow;

Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye heav'nly host:

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
