Call to Worship - Matthew 11:28-30

Leader: Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
People: Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Leader: For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Prayer of Adoration, Assistance, & Blessing

Trinity Hymnal #715 “Come Ye Thankful People Come”
Come, ye thankful people, come,
raise the song of harvest home:
all is safely gathered in,
ere the winter storms begin;
God, our Maker, doth provide
for our wants to be supplied:
come to God's own temple, come,
raise the song of harvest home.

All the world is God's own field,
fruit unto his praise to yield;
wheat and tares together sown,
unto joy or sorrow grown:
first the blade, and then the ear,
then the full corn shall appear:
Lord of harvest, grant that we
wholesome grain and pure may be.

For the Lord our God shall come,
and shall take his harvest home;
from his field shall in that day
all offenses purge away;
give his angels charge at last
in the fire the tares to cast,
but the fruitful ears to store
in his garner evermore.

Even so, Lord, quickly come
to thy final harvest home;
gather thou thy people in,
free from sorrow, free from sin;
there forever purified,
in thy presence to abide:
come, with all thine angels, come,
raise the glorious harvest home.
Reflection on God’s Law

Leader: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
People: This is the great and first commandment. (Matt 22: 37-38)
Leader: God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before me.”
People: For although there may be so-called “gods” in heaven or on earth… yet for us
there is one God. (1Cor 8:5-6)
Leader: You shall not make for yourself an idol.
People: What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the
living God. (2Cor 6:16)
Leader: You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
People: Let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under
condemnation. (Jam 5:12)
Leader: Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
People: There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. (Heb 4:9-10)

Silent Prayer of Confession
Assurance of Pardon - Titus 2:11a, 13b-14

Hymn – “Merciful God” CCLI Song #4800758

Merciful God O abounding in love
Faithful to all who draw near You
Hearing the cries of the humble in heart
Showing the cross they may cling to
Helpless I come broken in sin
Found at the feet of Your mercy
Father forgive, may my sin be remembered no more

Merciful God O abounding in love
Faithful through times we have failed You
Selfish in thought and uncaring in deed
Foolish in word and ungrateful
Spirit of God conquer our hearts
With love that flows from forgiveness
Cause us to yield aAnd return to the mercy of God

Merciful God O abounding in love
Faithful to keep us from falling
Guiding our ways with Your fatherly heart
Growing our faith with each testing
God speed the day struggles will end
Faultless we'll gaze on Your glory
Then we will stand overwhelmed by the mercy of God

Prayer of the Church - Elder Dean Abbott

Psalm 136 “Thank the Lord for Good Is He” (tune: Trinity Hymnal #277)

Thank the LORD for good is He,
For His steadfast love endures.
To the God of gods, thanks be,
For His steadfast love endures.
Praises give the King of kings,
For His steadfast love endures.
He alone does wondrous things,
For His steadfast love endures.

He with skill has made the skies,
For His steadfast love endures.
From the seas made land arise,
For His steadfast love endures.
He has made great shining lights,
For His steadfast love endures.
Sun rules day; moon, stars rule night,
For His steadfast love endures.

Egypt’s firstborn He did smite
For His steadfast love endures.
Brought out Is’rael by His might,
For His steadfast love endures.
He the Red Sea split in two,
For His steadfast love endures.
He made Is’rael pass on through,
For His steadfast love endures.

He drowned Pharaoh and his men
For His steadfast love endures.
Led His own through deserts then,
For His steadfast love endures.
Kings of splendor then He slew,
For His steadfast love endures.
Mighty kings He overthrew:
For His steadfast love endures.

Sihon, king of Amorites,
For His steadfast love endures,
Og, the king of Bashanites;
For His steadfast love endures.
He willed Israel their land,
For His steadfast love endures.
As His servant, heirs they stand,
For His steadfast love endures.

He remembered us when low,
For His steadfast love endures.
Gave deliv’rance from our foe,
For His steadfast love endures.
He gives food to all that live,
For His steadfast love endures.
Thanks to God of heaven give,
For His steadfast love endures.

Prayer of Application and the Lord’s Prayer

Trinity Hymnal #146 “Break Thou the Bread of Life”

Break thou the bread of life, dear Lord, to me,
as thou didst break the loaves beside the sea;
throughout the sacred page I seek thee, Lord,
my spirit pants for thee, O living Word.

Bless thou the truth, dear Lord, to me, to me,
as thou didst bless the bread by Galilee;
then shall all bondage cease, all fetters fall;
and I shall find my peace, my All in all.

Thou art the Bread of Life, O Lord, to me,
thy holy Word the truth that saveth me;
give me to eat and live with thee above;
teach me to love thy truth, for thou art love.

O send thy Spirit, Lord, now unto me,
that he may touch mine eyes, and make me see:
show me the truth concealed within thy Word,
and in thy Book revealed I see the Lord.

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given
Jesus Christ His Son

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given
Jesus Christ His Son

And now let the weak say I am strong
Let the poor say I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us
Give thanks

And now let the weak say I am strong
Let the poor say I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us
Give thanks
