PRAYER OF ADORATION, ASSISTANCE, & BLESSING

Hymnal #92   “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God”

A mighty fortress is our God,
a bulwark never failing;
our helper he amid the flood
of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe
doth seek to work us woe;
his craft and pow'r are great;
and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide,
our striving would be losing;
were not the right man on our side,
the man of God's own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he,
Lord Sabaoth his name,
from age to age the same,
and he must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled,
should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God hath willed
his truth to triumph through us.
The prince of darkness grim,
we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure,
for lo! his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.

That Word above all earthly pow'rs,
no thanks to them, abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours
through him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go,
this mortal life also;
the body they may kill:
God's truth abideth still;
his kingdom is forever.

Reflection of God's Law

Leader:: God spoke all these words, saying, "I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before me."

People: For although there may be so-called "gods" in heaven or on earth…yet for us there is one God. Leader: You shall not make for yourself an idol.

People: What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God.

Leader: You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

People: Let your "yes" be yes and your "no" be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.

Leader:  Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

People: There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.

SILENT CONFESSION OF SIN
ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Trinity Hymnal #132  “O Rejoice in the Lord”

God never moves without purpose or plan

When trying His servant and molding a man

Give thanks to the Lord

Though your testing seems long

In darkness He giveth a song

Chorus:

O rejoice in the Lord He makes no mistake

He knoweth the end of each path that I take

For when I am tried and purified

I shall come forth as gold

I could not see through the shadows ahead

So I looked at the cross of my Savior instead

I bowed to the will of the Master that day

Then peace came and tears fled away [Chorus]

Now I can see testing comes from above

God strengthens His children and purges in love

My Father knows best and I trust in His care

Through purging more fruit I will bear [Chorus]

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH Pastor M. Connor Underseth

Psalm 90:12-17   "O Teach Us How to Count Our Days"

O teach us how to count our days

And set our hearts on wisdom’s ways.

How long, O LORD? O now return

And for Your servants show concern.

Each morning fill us with Your grace;

We’ll sing for joy through all our days.

As many days as we have spent

Under affliction You have sent,

For all the years we evil knew,

Now make us glad; our joy renew.

Your work to all Your servants show;

Your glory let their children know.

On us may there be shed abroad

Good favor from the Lord our God.

What our hands made, establish sure,

So that our labors may endure;

Yes, may the labor of our hands

Be made by You to ever stand.

GOD’S WORD PREACHED

Pastor Joel E. Wood

Prayer of Application and the Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not Into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.

Trinity Hymnal 307 “Nothing But the Blood”

What can wash away my sin?
nothing but the blood of Jesus;
what can make me whole again?
nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Refrain:
O precious is the flow
that makes me white as snow;
no other fount I know,
nothing but the blood of Jesus.

For my cleansing this I see —
nothing but the blood of Jesus;
for my pardon this my plea —
nothing but the blood of Jesus. [Refrain]

Nothing can for sin atone —
nothing but the blood of Jesus;
naught of good that I have done —
nothing but the blood of Jesus. [Refrain]

This is all my hope and peace —
nothing but the blood of Jesus;
this is all my righteousness —
nothing but the blood of Jesus. [Refrain]

Now by this I'll overcome —
nothing but the blood of Jesus;
now by this I'll reach my home —
nothing but the blood of Jesus. [Refrain]

Trinity Hymnal p. 845

 “Apostles’ Creed”

Minister: Christian, what do you believe?

All:  I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

WORDS OF INSTITUTION & WARNING

Minister: The Lord be with you;

People: And also with you.

Minister: Lift up your hearts;

People: We lift them up to the Lord.

Minister: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God;

People: It is right to give him thanks and praise.

Song “Before the Throne of God”

Before the throne of God above

I have a strong and perfect plea,

A great High Priest whose name is Love,

Who ever lives and pleads for me.

My name is graven on His hands,

My name is written on His heart

I know that while in heav'n He stands

No tongue can bid me thence depart,

No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair

And tells me of the guilt within,

Upward I look and see Him there

Who made an end of all my sin.

Because the sinless Saviour died.

My sinful soul is counted free

For God the Just is satisfied

To look on Him and pardon me,

To look on Him and pardon me.

Behold Him there! The risen Lamb,

My perfect spotless righteousness;

The great unchangeable I Am

The King of glory and of grace!

One with Himself I cannot die,

My soul is purchased with His blood

My life is hid with Christ on high,

With Christ, my Saviour and my God,

With Christ, my Saviour and my God.

Hymnal #731  “Doxology”

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow;

Praise Him all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host:

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
