Welcome and Announcements

Choral Introit    “King of All Ages, Throned on High”
There King of all ages, throned on high,
Yet savior too of those with faith,
Death at your onslaught died in fear
And grace triumphant rules supreme.

Risen from death, the heav’nly Christ
Receives from God the Father’s hand
Power over all created things:
A gift he could not know on earth.

Then at your coming on the clouds
With shining strength to be our judge,
Cancel the debt we owe you still,
Give back the glory we have lost.

Glory to you, O Christ our Lord,
Exalted far beyond our sight,
Reigning in bliss for evermore,
With Father and with Paraclete.

(Paraclete =The Holy Ghost. Literal translation=One who comes alongside)
Text: 10th-cent. Latin Music: Paul Isom (b. 1959)

GREETING AND CALL TO WORSHIP  Psalm 105:4–6
Leader: Seek the Lord and his strength;
People: Seek his presence continually!

Leader: Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,
All: O offspring of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones!

PRAYER OF ADORATION, ASSISTANCE, AND BLESSING
Hymnal #358 “For All The Saints”
For all the saints who from their labors rest,
who thee by faith before the world confessed,
thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thou wast their rock, their fortress, and their might;
thou, Lord, their Captain in the well-fought fight;
thou, in the darkness drear, their one true light.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

O may thy soldiers faithful, true, and bold,
fight as the saints who nobly fought of old,
and win with them the victor's crown of gold.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

The golden evening brightens in the west;
soon, soon to faithful warriors comes their rest;
sweet is the calm of paradise the blest.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

But lo! there breaks a yet more glorious day;
the saints triumphant rise in bright array;
the King of glory passes on his way.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

From earth's wide bounds, from ocean's farthest coast,
through gates of pearl streams in the countless host,
singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
Alleluia! Alleluia!

REFLECTION ON GOD’S LAW
Leader: The Second Commandment is:
People: “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.” (Exodus 20:4)

Leader: “You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.” (Exodus 20:5–6)
People: Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. (Rom. 1:22-23)

SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION ASSURANCE OF GRACE Micah 7:18
Hymnal #688  “Have Thine Own Way, Lord!”
Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Thou art the potter; I am the clay.
Mold me and make me after thy will,
while I am waiting, yielded and still.

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Search me and try me, Master, today!
Whiter than snow, Lord, wash me just now,
as in thy presence humbly I bow.

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Wounded and weary, help me, I pray!
Power, all power, surely is thine!
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine!

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Hold o'er my being absolute sway!
Fill with thy Spirit till all shall see
Christ only, always, living in me!
PRAYER OF THE CHURCH  Elder Dean Abbott

Psalm 71:9-15    “Do Not Forsake Me in Old Age”
Do not forsake me in old age;
When strength fails, leave me not.
For enemies against me speak;
To take my life, they plot.

They say, “God has forsaken him;
Come seize him, none will save.”
O God, do not be far from me;
God, hurry to my aid.

Let all my foes be swallowed up,
And put them all to shame;
Clothe them with scorn who seek my hurt,
Reproach bring on their name.

But as for me, I’ll always hope,
And add to all Your praise.
All day I’ll tell Your saving acts,
Your countless righteous ways.

GOD’S WORD READ  Acts 20:22-24
GOD’S WORD PREACHED  “We're Almost There” by Pastor. Joel E. Wood

Prayer Of Application & The Lord’s Prayer
All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Song "Beneath The Cross”
Beneath the cross of Jesus, I find a place to stand;
And wonder at such mercy, That calls me as I am.
For hands that should discard me, Hold wounds which tell me, “Come."
Beneath the cross of Jesus, My unworthy soul is won.

Beneath the cross of Jesus, His fam’ly is my own.
Once strangers chasing selfish dreams, Now one, through grace alone.
How could I now dishonor The ones that You have loved?
Beneath the cross of Jesus, See the children called by God.

Beneath the cross of Jesus, The path before the crown,
We follow in His footsteps, Where promised hope is found.
How great the joy before us-To be His perfect bride.
Beneath the cross of Jesus, We will gladly live our lives.

Hymnal p. 845  “Apostles’ Creed”
Minister: Christian, what do you believe?
All: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
