Choral Introit   “There Is One Lord”
Refrain:
There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
There is one God who is Father of all.

Bear with one another in love and charity,
Be humble, be patient, be selfless, be as one. [Refrain]

There is one body, there is one spirit,
There is one hope to which we are called. [Refrain]

We are all to come to unity, in our faith and knowledge of the Son of God,
Until we become perfected in the fullness of Christ. [Refrain]

        Text: based on Ephesians 4, Jacques Berthier
        Music: Jacques Berthier

GREETING AND CALL TO WORSHIP   Psalm 105:4–6
Leader: Seek the Lord and his strength;
People: Seek his presence continually!

Leader: Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,
All: O offspring of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones!

PRAYER OF ADORATION, ASSISTANCE, AND BLESSING

Hymnal #92   “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God”
A mighty fortress is our God,
a bulwark never failing;
our helper he amid the flood
of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe
doth seek to work us woe;
his craft and pow'r are great;
and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide,
our striving would be losing;
were not the right man on our side,
the man of God's own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he,
Lord Sabaoth his name,
from age to age the same,
and he must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled,
should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God hath willed
his truth to triumph through us.
The prince of darkness grim,
we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure,
for lo! his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.

That Word above all earthly pow'rs,
no thanks to them, abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours
through him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go,
this mortal life also;
the body they may kill:
God's truth abideth still;
his kingdom is forever.

REFLECTION ON GOD’S LAW
Leader: The Second Commandment is:
People: “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything
that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.” (Exodus 20:4)

Leader: “You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,
but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.” (Exodus 20:5–6)
People: Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. (Rom. 1:22-23)

SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION
ASSURANCE OF GRACE   Micah 7:18

Song   “Let the Earth Resound”
Let the earth resound with songs of praise
To the Father's pow’r and love.
For the One who set each star in place
Chose to set His heart on us.
To the One whose might gives victory
Yet whose mercies never cease,
As the tapestry of history
Tells the story of His grace.

Chorus:
King immortal, faithful God,
Crowned with splendour, rich in love.
Let the heavens and the earth resound
With songs of praise to You.

Let the earth be stilled before the sight
Of a Father's sacrifice,
That revealed the depths of love divine
In the face of Jesus Christ.
Through a life of full obedience,
And a death in agony,
He removed the rebel's punishment
And He set the pris'ner free. [Chorus]

Let the earth resound with songs of faith
At the wonder yet to come,
When all sin and pain are put to death
And the church and Christ are one.
When we stand as God's great family
And we meet the Father's gaze
And we share in His eternal joy
As we join in ceaseless praise. [Chorus]

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH.   Elder Brad Tidwell

Psalm 111:1-5   “O Praise the Lord”
O praise the LORD! With all my heart
Thanks to the LORD I’ll bring
Together with the upright ones,
And in their gathering.

The works accomplished by the LORD
Are very great in might;
They’re studied closely by all those
Who find in them delight.

His work is splendid and displays
His glorious majesty;
And His enduring righteousness
Forevermore will be.

He made His wonders lasting signs
Remembered endlessly;
The LORD is most compassionate,
And merciful is He.

Those fearing Him He fills with food
Provided by His hand.
He keeps in mind His covenant,
That it may ever stand.

GOD’S WORD READ   Acts 24
GOD’S WORD PREACHED.   “Waiting for Judgement” by Pastor Joel E. Wood

Prayer of Application and the Lord’s Prayer
All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.

Hymnal #498   “Jesus! What a Friend for Sinners!”
Jesus! what a Friend for sinners!
Jesus! lover of my soul;
friends may fail me, foes assail me,
he, my Savior, makes me whole.

Refrain:
Hallelujah! what a Savior!
Hallelujah, what a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
he is with me to the end.

Jesus! what a strength in weakness!
Let me hide myself in him;
tempted, tried, and sometimes failing,
he, my strength, my vict'ry wins. [Refrain]

Jesus! what a help in sorrow!
While the billows o'er me roll,
even when my heart is breaking,
he, my comfort, helps my soul. [Refrain]

Jesus! what a guide and keeper!
While the tempest still is high,
storms about me, night o'ertakes me,
he, my pilot, hears my cry. [Refrain]

Jesus! I do now receive him,
more than all in him I find;
he hath granted me forgiveness,
I am his, and he is mine. [Refrain]

Hymnal p. 845   “Apostles’ Creed”
Minister: Christian, what do you believe?
All:  I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

SACRAMENT OF THE LORD’S SUPPER
Words of Institution and Warning
Minister: The Lord be with you;
People: And also with you.

Minister: Lift up your hearts;
People: We lift them up to the Lord.

Minister: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God;
People: It is right to give him thanks and praise.

Song   “Before the Throne of God Above "
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea,
A great High Priest whose name is Love,
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on his hands,
My name is written on his heart
I know that while in heav'n he stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart,
No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see him there
Who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Saviour died,
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the Just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me,
To look on Him and pardon me.

Behold him there! The risen Lamb,
My perfect spotless righteousness;
The great unchangeable I AM
The King of glory and of grace!
One with himself I cannot die,
My soul is purchased by his blood
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ, my Saviour and my God,
With Christ, my Saviour and my God.
