GREETING & CALL TO WORSHIP – Psalm 66:1-4
Leader:  Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise!
People: Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you.”

Leader: “All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.”
All: Praise the Lord!

PRAYER OF ADORATION, ASSISTANCE, & BLESSING

Trinity Hymnal #345 “Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken”
Glorious things of thee are spoken,
Zion, city of our God;
he whose word cannot be broken
formed thee for his own abode:
on the Rock of Ages founded,
what can shake thy sure repose?
With salvation's walls surrounded,
thou may'st smile at all thy foes.

See, the streams of living waters,
springing from eternal love,
well supply thy sons and daughters,
and all fear of want remove;
who can faint, while such a river
ever flows their thirst t'assuage?–
grace which, like the Lord, the giver,
never fails from age to age.

Round each habitation hov'ring,
see the cloud and fire appear
for a glory and a cov'ring,
showing that the Lord is near:
thus deriving from their banner
light by night and shade by day,
safe they feed upon the manna
which he gives them when they pray.

Savior, if of Zion's city
I, through grace, a member am,
let the world deride or pity,
I will glory in thy name:
fading is the worldling's pleasure,
all his boasted pomp and show;
solid joys and lasting treasure
none but Zion's children know.

REFLECTION ON GOD’S LAW   from Exodus 20:1-17 & N.T. corollaries, ESV
Leader: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
People: This is the great and first commandment. (Matt. 22: 37-38)

Leader: God spoke all these words, saying, "I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before me."
People: For although there may be so-called "gods" in heaven or on earth…yet for us there is one God. (1 Cor. 8:5-6)

Leader: You shall not make for yourself an idol.
People: What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God. (2 Cor. 6:16)

Leader: You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
People: Let your "yes" be yes and your "no" be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. (Jam. 5:12)

Leader:  Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
People: There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. (Heb. 4:9-10)

SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION
ASSURANCE OF PARDON – Galatians 2:20

Trinity Hymnal #610 “’Take Up Your Cross,’ the Savior Said”
"Take up your cross," the Savior said,
"if you would my disciple be;
take up your cross with willing heart,
and humbly follow after me."

Take up your cross; let not its weight
fill your weak soul with vain alarm;
his strength shall bear your spirit up,
and brace your heart and nerve your arm.

Take up your cross; nor heed the shame,
and let your foolish pride be still;
your Lord refused not e'en to die
upon a cross, on Calv'ry's hill.

Take up your cross, then, in his strength,
and calmly sin's wild deluge brave;
'twill guide you to a better home,
it points to glory o'er the grave.

Take up your cross, and follow on,
nor think till death to lay it down;
for only he who bears the cross
may hope to wear the glorious crown.

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH – Elder Dean Abbott

Psalm 122:1-9 “I Was Filled with Joy and Gladness” (Book of Psalms for Worship)

I was filled with joy and gladness
When I heard them say to me:
“Let us make our pilgrim journey,
Then the LORD’s house we will see.”
We were standing! We were standing!
In your gates, Jerusalem! (Salem)
In your gates, Jerusalem!

In Jerus’lem, built securely,
There the tribes—the LORD’s tribes—go.
This is Isr’el’s obligation,
To the LORD’s name thanks they show.
There, for justice, there, for justice,
Stand the thrones of David’s house, (David’s house)
Stand the thrones of David’s house.

For Jerusalem’s wellbeing
Intercede and pray for peace:
“All the ones who truly love you,
May they prosper and increase.
Peace and safety, peace and safety
Be within your walls and towers, (walls and towers)
Be within your walls and towers.”

I will say, “May peace be with you!”
For my friends’ and brothers’ sake.
For the LORD’s house, our God’s temple,
This my purpose I will make:
Your wellbeing, your wellbeing,
I will seek with all my heart, (all my heart)
I will seek with all my heart.

GOD’S WORD READ – Romans 15:14-33
GOD’S WORD PREACHED – “Gospel Ambition and Its Fruits” by Pastor Joel E. Wood
PRAYER OF APPLICATION & THE LORD’S PRAYER

Song  “Meekness and Majesty”
Meekness and majesty
Manhood and deity
In perfect harmony
The Man who is God
Lord of eternity
Dwells in humanity
Kneels in humility
And washes our feet

Chorus
O what a mystery
Meekness and majesty
Bow down and worship
For this is your God
This is your God

Father's pure radiance
Perfect in innocence
Yet learns obedience
To death on a cross
Suffering to give us life
Conquering through sacrifice
And as they crucify
Prays 'Father forgive' [Chorus]

Wisdom unsearchable
God the invisible
Love indestructible
In frailty appears
Lord of infinity
Stooping so tenderly
Lifts our humanity
To the heights of His throne [Chorus]

SERVING OF THE SUPPER

Song “Refiner’s Fire”
Purify my heart
Let me be as gold
And precious silver
Purify my heart
Let me be as gold
Pure gold

Chorus:
Refiner's fire
My heart's one desire
Is to be holy
Set apart for You Lord
I choose to be holy
Set apart for You my Master
Ready to do Your will

Purify my heart
Cleanse me from within
And make me holy
Purify my heart
Cleanse me from my sin
Deep within [Chorus]
