Choral Introit “At the Table of the Lord”

Call to Worship: Matthew 11:28-29
Leader: Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
People: Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Leader: For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

PRAYER OF ADORATION, ASSISTANCE & BLESSING

Hymnal #455: “And Can It Be That I Should Gain”
And can it be that I should gain an int'rest in the Savior's blood?
Died he for me, who caused his pain? For me, who him to death pursued?
Amazing love! How can it be that thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

Refrain: Amazing love! How can it be that thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

'Tis myst'ry all! Th'Immortal dies: who can explore his strange design?
In vain the firstborn seraph tries to sound the depths of love divine.
'Tis mercy all! Let earth adore,
let angel minds inquire no more. [Refrain]

He left his Father's throne above (so free, so infinite his grace!),
humbled himself (so great his love!) and bled for all his chosen race!
'Tis mercy all, immense and free,
for, O my God, it found out me! [Refrain]

REFLECTION ON GOD’S LAW
Leader: Honor your father and your mother.
People: Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. (Eph. 6:1)
Leader: You shall not murder.
People: Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. (1 Jn. 3:15)
Leader: You shall not commit adultery. People: Everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. (Mt. 5:28)
Leader: You shall not steal.
People: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. Do your work quietly and earn your own living. (2 Th. 3:10,12)
Leader: You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
People: Having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor. (Eph. 4:25)
Leader: You shall not covet anything that is your neighbor's.
People: For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Gal. 5:14)

SILENT CONFESSION OF SIN

ASSURANCE OF PARDON: John 10:9-11

Hymnal #591 “Jesus Calls Us”
Jesus calls us: o'er the tumult of our life's wild, restless sea,
day by day his sweet voice soundeth, saying, "Christian, follow me."

As, of old, apostles heard it by the Galilean lake,
turned from home and toil and kindred, leaving all for his dear sake.

Jesus calls us from the worship
of the vain world's golden store, from each idol that would keep us, saying, "Christian, love me more."

In our joys and in our sorrows, days of toil and hours of ease,
still he calls, in cares and pleasures, "Christian, love me more than these."

Jesus calls us: by thy mercies, Savior, may we hear thy call,
give our hearts to thine obedience, serve and love thee best of all.

Prayer of the Church: Pastoral Intern Aaron Philip
Psalm 117: “O All You Nations of the Earth”

O all you nations of the earth, Give praises to the LORD.
O all you peoples magnify His name with one accord.
Because His love for us is strong –
His lovingkindnesses.
The LORD is faithful evermore; Praise to the LORD express!

GOD’S WORD READ: James 3:13-18
GOD’S WORD PREACHED: “Wisdom Again” by Pastor M. Connor Underseth

Prayer of Application & the Lord’s Prayer
All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Hymn “The Power of the Cross”
Oh to see the dawn of the darkest day Christ on the road to Calvary
Tried by sinful men torn and beaten then
Nailed to a cross of wood

Chorus: This the pow'r of the cross Christ became sin for us
Took the blame bore the wrath We stand forgiven at the cross

Oh to see the pain written on Your face Bearing the awesome weight of sin Ev'ry bitter thought ev'ry evil deed Crowning Your bloodstained brow [Chorus]

Now the daylight flees now the ground beneath
Quakes as its Maker bows His head Curtain torn in two dead are raised to life Finished the vict'ry cry [Chorus]

Oh to see my name written in the wounds
For through Your suff'ring I am free Death is crushed to death life is mine to live
Won through Your selfless love

This the pow'r of the cross Son of God slain for us
What a love what a cost. We stand forgiven at the cross
CCLI Song # 4490766

Hymnal p. 845 “Apostles’ Creed”
Minister: Christian, what do you believe?
All: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

WORDS OF INSTITUTION & WARNING
Minister: The Lord be with you;
People: And also with you.
Minister: Lift up your hearts;
People: We lift them up to the Lord. Minister: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God;
People: It is right to give him thanks and praise.

Song of Praise: “Be Still”
Be still for the presence of the Lord The Holy One is here
Come bow before Him now With reverence and fear
In Him no sin is found We stand on holy ground
Be still for the presence of the Lord The Holy One is here

Be still for the glory of the Lord Is shining all around
He burns with holy fire
With splendor He is crowned How awesome is the sight Our radiant King of light
Be still for the glory of the Lord Is shining all around

Be still for the power of the Lord Is moving in this place
He comes to cleanse and heal To minister His grace
No work too hard for Him In faith receive from Him
Be still for the power of the Lord Is moving in this place
