Easter Message from David Zadok

April 11, 2020

I know that also in your churches like in many places the churches are live streaming their services. It is amazing to think how a small unseen virus has closed down the doors of so many churches and many other institutions!

As you might have heard, Israel has taken a very strict approach of close down against the corona and last night till tomorrow morning we are in total lockdown and Passover meal, but conducted individually with no extended family. Also the Rabbis have advised their communities not to go to synagogue!

At HaGefen, we decided to take advantage of the opportunity that many people are at home and to offer bundle of books that includes children books, as well as theological books as well three of Joel Beeks’ books, and John Flavel’s providence and other books for only 30NIS (worth close to 200 NIS) including home/apartment  delivery. We have already close to 40 packages that have been ordered. Enclosed are some picture of the bundle. Three of our staff are working from home, and myself and two others are working from the office. We are trying to obey the regulations that have been put in by ministry of health, which are hard and at times confusing and unclear!

As to the church, Grace and Truth Christian Congregation, as of a month ago we had to switch to live streaming of our services, mid-week bible study and also our children bible club. I have been doing a short series on prayer with focus on the Lord’s Prayer. We have also divided the whole congregation between the elders and we are in contact with them, and trying to help in the spiritual or physical needs that arise in these days. Also we have taken an initiative to prepare food packages for holocaust survivors and to deliver it to their homes – we were masks and gloves and after knocking at their doors, we left it at door and had a short conversation with them. We delivered the packages to five different cities were we have connection with the Holocaust Survivors clubs.

So, all in all we are thankful to the Lord, that despite the Covid-19 and many challenges that it has created, we are doing well and using creative ways to reach out to our people.
