Four hundred years ago (1618-19) the National Synod gathered in the Dutch city of Dordrecht to resolve the dispute between the followers of Jacob Arminius—the Remonstrants—and the Dutch Reformed Churches. Their response has been called The Canons of Dort. Although not in the order we use today, it’s from their response to the Remonstrants errors that we now have what have come to be known as the five points of Calvinism. Additionally, these Canons have become part of Three Forms of Unity—the doctrinal standard of many Reformed Churches.

This year we will think about the Canons and specifically what they have to say about Reformed theology and evangelism. What is it? Why is it important? And, perhaps most well known controversially, is it sincere?

Rev. Mike Brown will be preaching in the morning at 9:30 a.m. and we will host our annual Reformation Service at 6 p.m.
